So you've heard of Mr. Hudson because you saw him credited on 808's & Heartbreak's track list... he loves drum kits, is signed to G.O.O.D. music and used an auto-tuner on his latest track - you can tell why Kanye likes him - but his music sets Mr. Hudson apart from the label's other artists.
Ben Hudson and his band, The Library, released their debut LP, A Tale of Two Cities, in 2007 on Mercury Records, and received national acclaim. They have since opened for Amy Winehouse, The Police, and Kanye West, and SXSW. They are known for their use of steel drums in live performances, as heavy reggae and Motown undertones are evident in their debut album, while on other tracks they sound more like Dispatch or Elton John with drum kits. ....And they never forget the right amount of piano...
Hudson has been performing solo for a while now, like at the G.O.O.D. showcase at SXSW, and I have no information on his future with/without his band and their involvement in his upcoming album Straight, No Chaser (working title), but it does appear he is taking more of a commercial approach (at least by the U.S.'s standards), evident by his latest song, "There Will Be Tears":
